Jerry Hicks is a seasoned executive with extensive domestic and international experience developing and leading initiatives in marketing, sales, and strategic planning that drive operational improvements. As a senior director for SBC International, for example, Jerry developed and executed the strategy that transformed MATAV, the Hungarian telecom company, into a competitive operation under deregulation. At Ameritech, Jerry was director of business market operations planning and development targeting small and mid-size companies, and he served as the company’s director of workplace learning. For two years, Jerry directed strategic planning for the Chicago chapter of SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business,” as well as counseling several small enterprises from start-up through expansion.

Jerry has established a reputation for delivering measurable results for large multi-nationals, and he successfully scales this methodology to benefit smaller enterprises across many industries. His specific areas of expertise include:

A highly sought-after telecommunications expert and strategic planner, Jerry led the development and implementation of the sales channel strategy for the largest wireless provider in Bulgaria and directed its “first-to-market” launch of an integrated services portfolio for the Bulgarian business market. Jerry also played a key role in the success of Slovak Telekom – the largest telecommunications provider in Slovakia. Jerry developed marketing, product and sales channel strategies for Slovak Telekom in addition to creating the company’s first corporate strategy. Additionally, he directed planning, issue resolution and problem solving efforts with the company’s senior management team. Most recently, he developed the sales and service channel strategy for Mobtel, a mobile telecom provider in Serbia.

For the past two years, Jerry has been responsible for directing strategic planning for the Chicago chapter of SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” He chaired the chapter’s marketing committee and has successfully counseled several small businesses through start-up and expansion.

Prior to becoming a consultant, Jerry was a senior director for SBC International where he developed and executed the strategy for successfully transforming MATAV, the Hungarian Telecom company, into a competitive operation in response to deregulation. Under Jerry’s leadership, MATAV re-engineered its business planning process to better align priorities, commitment and resources in addition to successfully expanding its product line and integrating several successful acquisitions.

In addition to his international experience, Jerry has held a number of executive and management level positions with Ameritech. Jerry served as a director of business market operations planning and development. In this position, he had responsibility for planning, integration and implementation of major marketing initiatives and technology platforms for the sales and service operations targeting the small to medium business market. Jerry has significant background and expertise in marketing including market planning and development, product development and management, and sales. He also has experience in training and development having served as director of workplace learning for Ameritech.

Jerry graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and received his MBA in marketing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
